Scrap Happy Quilting

My interpretation of Gustav Klimt's "the Kiss" was a special gift for some dear friends of ours, Susan & Larry.

Yes! This was as soft as it looks. ;) -All cotton flannels keeps you warm & cozy.

This was my gift to my beloved husband for our 10th Anniversary. Wow, can't believe that was 11 years ago!!! :0O

Here's one of the Memorial quilts I made for a client. It was one of 4 quilts to be given to each grandchild of the Gentleman that had passed away.

I made this happy and bright "cuddle-up" quilt for my Niece, Jeannae for Christmas 2005. Love you Nae-nae!

Another one of my favorite Shabby Chic rag edge flannel quilts. So very sweet and so very, very cozy! 0;)

This charming castle was a custom design of mine I had created for our friend Judy, for her birthday. I love how the batik fabrics added so much depth and implied detail by fussy cutting and then layering it.  I further added to it by hand shading with oil based colored pencils after all the fabric pieces had been applied.

This wall quilt was made as a sample for a class that I taught; showing my students how they could take their own landscape photos & make them into custom quilts too. Using a verity of novelty quilts made it even more fun and detailed.

I won my very first "Blue Ribbon" with this wall quilt. Which made me even happier due to the fact that it took almost eight years to complete!

This was another commission job where a client ordered a patchwork/rag-edge  quilt made from her teen's old jeans and school T-shirts as a going away to college gift for Christmas.

Using quite a few different novelty fabrics; I was able to recreate this quaint New England scene. My handy husband made the frame for this and many others for my mini wall art quilts, from weathered old barn wood.

This cheerful dipper bag was partially inspired by those quilted purses from the late 90's early 2000's and left over squares from a rag edge quilt I had made as a baby gift. I think it turn out pretty cute and my girlfriend loved it too!

Some of my Cards . . .

This little cutie was made to hold a gift card. ;)

This was a mock-up I had made for a client for a baby shower invo. They were a hit!

The embellishment that the rose is mounted on was made by tracing a vintage escutcheon plate onto a piece of card stock and then cutting it out. I then used a color duster (JudiKins) and Walnut Stain Distressed ink by Tim Holz to age the piece before I mounted it with pop-dots.

Here's one of the first card cards I made using a "Joann's" Mat-Stacks. I just love the look of crinkled silk biased tape -don't you?! :D

Twill tape would be my second favorite. Just love all the beautiful colors you can get it in these days. Yum-eee!  :9

The simplicity of this card gives it a sweet feeling to me.

I had fun coming up with a french influenced style card front to suit one of my 100's (if not thousands!) of french label ephemera pieces.

Love this cute little 4"x 4" gem . . . simple, small, but says it all!

~*Steam-punk Funk*~

I had a lot of fun creating and teaching this great project using a cigar box, a blank mini note book and a pen/pencil. This set makes a perfect gift for that special "fella" in your life or anyone who loves Steam-punk design!

All the laser cut wood and chip board embellishments were provided by Grapevine Design, (Gilbert, AZ) which is an awesome resource for many, many other steam punk and other style laser cut designs. Check them out online; and if you need a special design/logo they do that too!

The Love of the Cottage Garden

I loved how the wild lavender and cosmos would grace you as you'd walk by along the garden path.

My beloved Grandma's birdbath looks so perfect sitting under the shady maple tree and surrounded by hostas, gladiolas, lupines, bleeding-hearts, and lily of the valleys.

For our 10th Anniversary, my mom gave us a wonderful wooden garden archway. Which I promptly planted climbing vines of clematis in shades of deep purple & soft lilac.

My hope and goal was to create a place where people, angels, and fairies alike would feel welcome and would frolic and play throughout the day; from sunrise and sunset.

Garden Path

Well here's my entry example I made for the Heartfelt Creations Design Team tryouts . . . I think it turned out pretty good considering I just had neck surgery and I stayed up till late and got it turned in just under the deadline wire!

You'll notice that there's a vellum insert; which is what I attached my water colored stamped image on.

I just love Heartfelt Creations' Ornate Gateway die! So airy and delicate looking.

Makes me want to walk on through into the quiet garden and curl up under a big tree with a good book for the afternoon. . .

The Scenery Builder Stamp set by Heartfelt Creations helps you add those little extra touches and add dimension to your projects. I chose to add punched and layered flowers on mine.

Just for fun and a change of pace, I used flowers that I had stamped and made using the Poesy Patch stamp set by Heartfelt Creations.  Under my salutation I glued the pediment from my gate die cutouts and embellished further. Gotta have my bling!

So I'll be letting everyone know if I make it into the semifinals - say a few prayers for me if you think of it :0)  Until then I'll keep doin what I'm doin lovin every minute of it too! I am so blessed to be able to teach and design for Grapevine Designs & GBM Mesa - you both ROCK!!!!
